Can my app have custom fonts?

On the Shoutem platform, you can upload as many fonts as you want to make your app outstanding and visually interesting to your users.

We know that every brand is unique and special in its own way. Most of the originality is presented through design and a big part of it are fonts. Custom fonts feature is included in our Professional plan so if you have Android only or Standard plan, you will have to upgrade to the Professional plan.

How to set up Custom fonts?

Firstly, make sure that you have platform 12 installed (you can check that if you click on Settings > Shoutem platform).

After you install platform 12, navigate to the Style section. You will be able to see the Fonts tab.

To enable fonts, click on the Enable fonts button. After you enable fonts, you will see the default fonts and the section where you can add your wanted font.

Click on Add font, type the name of your font and click on Next button.

In the Add font, you will have four sections where you will have to upload .ttf or .otf format files for:

  • font file
  • bold font file
  • italic font file
  • bold-italic font file

After you uploaded all the files, go back to the Style > Customize theme and make sure to pick your uploaded font for the typography and text.

Have in mind that, once fonts are uploaded, they will not be visible in the Disclose app or preview. But no need to worry – we will create builds and you will be able to test the build with your custom fonts on Testflight for iOS devices and install the APK file on your Android device. Make sure to contact us at our support@shoutem.com email once you upload all the needed files.

Publishing your app in stores

Before submitting the app to stores, you are entitled to max 3 builds (for example 3 different font combinations). Once you are satisfied with how the app works, click on the Publish button in the builder and contact us at support@shoutem.com so we can inform our publishing team to continue with the submission of your app in Google Play Store and Apple App Store.

After publishing the app for the first time, you will get 1 build per month within the Professional plan.

NOTE! If you would like to test your app more than 3 times, you will be required to pay a $99 one-time fee for 3 extra builds.
