iCal calendar imports
With a great number of our customers using this type of event management, we decided to enable you to import your events into the Shoutem platform. Similar to Google services, a web-based based calendars will allow you to export the calendar in the .ics format, which is then possible to import back within Shoutem mobile app.
We will go over the necessary steps to get your events synchronized with your app.
Exporting the feed
Before we load the feed into your app, first we need to get the link to the feed itself. Depending on the platform where you have your calendar set up, follow these steps.
Google Calendar
Let's start by logging in into your google account here . If you don't have an account for Google, you can create one here .Once you've logged in, you can create your calendar. If you already have one, you can import it to your app.
First, we need a link to your calendar which we will enter in the Events module.
In the top right corner next to your profile image, you will see the following Settings menu option:
Click on it to enter your calendar settings. There on the left side, you will see all your calendars.
Click on the calendar you wish to import and additional settings will be opened.
Under Access permissions setting , enable your calendar publicly available. Otherwise, events couldn't be imported into Shoutem app.
This is the link of your calendar feed. Copy it as we will need to enter this within your app builder.
Adding the feed to your app
Once you have the link to your exported calendar, we need to add this as a feed into your app.
Go to your content manager and click on the Add content button.
Select the Events -> iCalendar module
Now copy the link of your calendar into the suggested field and click on the Import button.
Your calendar should now be imported. All that's left to do is add this calendar to your design tab and you're done.
