What DNS settings do I need to change to set up my white-label Agency account?

For users to be able to access your white-label Agency dashboard, you must first provide Shoutem with two subdomains that we can use to point to your dashboard.

In order to set the redirection correctly on your domain, you want to find the DNS settings under your web domain account. DNS settings are separated into a few categories, we'll be working with CNAME values to set this up.

First, you need to find your domain's DNS area. This can be labeled as: DNS Settings, DNS Control, DNS Manager, Advanced Zone Control or something similar. If you can't find something like this, please check the list of instructions for specific domain providers below.

1. Setting up redirection for your White-label dashboard

In order to allow your clients to visit your white-label Agency dashboard, you will need to set-up A domain name redirection with the following parameters.

Record type: CNAME

Name (subdomain) - Whether it's "dashboard.yoursite.com", "apps.yoursite.com" or whichever subdomain to access your agency dashboard you've chosen, you'll need to add that subdomain in this area.
Points to /
Host name / Alias / Destination / Record Value - Point your subdomain to: agencies.shoutem.com

- TTL Value - Not all control panels have this. If you do, leave this value at its default. No need to change this.

Once these values are entered, confirm these settings by selecting Save, OK or Submit, depending on your provider.

2. Setting up redirection for your White-label application preview URL

As you know, application users can preview their apps by loading preview URL using the mobile browser.

In order to hide Shoutem branding and domain name from this link, we'll need to create another Domain name redirection with the following parameters:

Record type: CNAME record
Name (subdomain) - You can add subdomain like this "*.preview.yoursite.com" or "*.apppreview.yoursite.com".
Points to /
Host name / Alias / Destination / Record Value - Point your subdomain to: apps.shoutem.com

Important note: Don't remove "*." before your preview subdomain, it's mandatory, and removing it would cause preview domain not to work!

- TTL Value - Not all control panels have this. If you do, leave this value at its default. No need to change this.

Once these values are entered, confirm these settings by selecting Save, OK or Submit, depending on your provider.

3. Setting up DKIM

As Shoutem sends transactional emails on behalf of our Agencies, Agency owners will also need to add additional TXT records to enable DKIM.

You can do it by following similar steps as in step 2:

- Record Type:  TXT
- Name: mandrill._domainkey.YourAgencyDomain, which would make the complete Name look like this mandrill._domainkey.yourdomain.com
- Record Value / Text / TXT Data: v=DKIM1; k=rsa; p=MIGfMA0GCSqGSIb3DQEBAQUAA4GNADCBiQKBgQCrLHiExVd55zd/IQ/J/mRwSRMAocV/hMB3jXwaHH36d9NaVynQFYV8NaWi69c1veUtRzGt
- TTL:   Not all control panels have this. If you do, leave this value at its default. No need to change this.

Once these values are entered, confirm these settings by selecting Save, OK or Submit, depending on your provider.

4. Setting up SPF

Sender Policy Framework (SPF) is a simple email validation system, and we're using it to verify that e-mails sent by our system do not go to recipients Spam folder.

The process is similar to Step 3, but we have two options.

1. SPF TXT record already exists

To enable SPF, update a TXT record for YourAgencyDomain by inserting the following statement into its value: include:spf.mandrillapp.com.

- Record Type: TXT
- Name: YourAgencyDomain. (At some hosting providers it is only the @ sign, in some cases full domain)
- TTL:
Not all control panels have this. If you do, leave this value at its default. No need to change this.
- Record Value / Text /  TXT Data (Example only): "v=spf1 YOURALREADYEXISTINGDATA include:spf.mandrillapp.com?all"

2. There is no SPF TXT record yet

If TXT record for YourAgencyDomain does not exist yet, create a new record with the following value: v=spf1 include:spf.mandrillapp.com ?all

- Record Type: TXT
- Name: YourAgencyDomain. (At some hosting providers it is only the @ sign, in some cases full domain)
- TTL: Not all control panels have this. If you do, leave this value at its default. No need to change this.
- Record Value / Text / TXT Data: "v=spf1 include:spf.mandrillapp.com?all"

Once these values are entered, confirm these settings by selecting Save, OK or Submit, depending on your provider.

After you set this up, it can take up to 48h to give the DNS server of your domain provider enough time to refresh itself and process the change.

I read all of this, but can't seem to do it. What now?

Shoutem understands that domain changes or additions can be a confusing process, especially since the wording can be a bit different from case to case based on the provider that you are using. We are doing our best to cover all of them, but it is possible that yours isn't on the list. In this can we suggest either contacting us so we can help you find a solution or contacting the support staff of your domain provider.

If you choose the latter solution, the following information should clearly state your intentions to them.

In this scenario, make sure:

- That the domain that you will point to apps.shoutem.com is not used for any purpose at the moment.
- Subdomain dashboard.yoursite.com is not created at the moment

Thank you for reading this walkthrough. We hope that it helped you set up the custom domain for your Agency account correctly.
