Last Updated: May 06, 2016 10:20PM CEST
This article covers the process of setting up the setting DNS records with Namecheap domain provider. We'll cover this setup in a few simple steps. If you have any problem setting this up after reading this article, please contact our support department via email: shoutem@shoutem.com .

Namecheap DNS redirection setup

First of all, go to Namecheap website and log in with your account credentials. Once you're logged in, open your Namecheap Dashboard. You can do that by clicking on "Account" in the top right corner, and clicking the "Dashboard" button shown in the picture below:

This is your administrative dashboard, from where you can modify all of your domain settings. On the left of the screen, there should be a "Domain Lists" tab with Domains listed under it. Click on it to see all your domains.

Here you can see the list of your current domains that you have with the Namecheap domain provider. Find the domain you wish to use to set up your HTML5 application or Agency dashboard and click on the Manage button right to the domain name.

Then, on the button bar below domain name, click on Advanced DNS button

In order to set-up DNS records properly, you will need to add few DNS records.
- for HTML5 app, you will need to add only 1 record.
- for Agency account, you will need to add 4 records.

In order to add DNS records, click on "Add new record" button.

You can choose record type from
dropdown menu. We'll use A records (which is chosen by default) and CNAME records.

Setting up HTML5 app subdomain

If you want to set-up HTML5 application, you will need to add CNAME record (choose record type from dropdown menu) with following parameters:

Host field : This is where you need to enter your subdomain. In the example below, we used "m", which would make the complete URL look like this m.yourdomain.com. Another popular subdomain is "app" (app.yourdomain.com ). It is important that you only enter the subdomain (alias) in this field, not the complete URL.
Target: apps.shoutem.com
TTL : Leave this field with default value (Automatic)

Once you've set this up, don't forget to save the changes. You can do this by clicking the "Save all changes" button.

Congratulations, you've just successfully set up the redirection to your mobile app. Keep in mind this may take up to 48 hours to be fully activated and don't forget to add the newly added redirection subdomain to your HTML5 publish info.

Setting up Agency DNS settings

1. Setting up redirection for your White-label dashboard

In order to allow your clients to visit your white-label Agency dashboard, you will need to set-up A domain name redirection (record) with following parameters.

Type: choose A from drop-down menu
Host: This is where you need to enter your subdomain. In the example below, we used "dashboard", which would make the complete URL look like this dashboard.yourdomain.com.
Value: "
174.36.116.144"
TTL: you can leave this at 'Automatic'

Once record is added, it should look like this:

2. Setting up redirection for your White-label application preview URL

As you know, application users can preview their apps by loading preview URL using mobile browser.
In order to hide Shoutem branding and domain name from this link, we'll need to create another Domain name redirection with following parameters:

Type: choose CNAME from drop-down menu
Host: This is where you need to enter your application preview subdomain. In the example below, we used "*.preview", which would make the complete preview URL look like this <app_id>.preview.yourdomain.com.

Important note: Don't remove "*." before your preview subdomain, it is mandatory, and removing it would cause preview domain not to work!

Target: "apps.shoutem.com"
TTL: you can leave this at Automatic

Once record is added, it should look like this:

3. Setting up DKIM

As Shoutem sends transactional emails on behalf of our Agencies, Agency owners will also need to add additional TXT records to enable DKIM.

You can do it by following similar steps as in step 2:

Type: choose TXT from drop-down menu
Host: mandrill._domainkey.YourAgencySubdomain. In the example above (step 1) , we used "dashboard", which would make the complete Host look like this "mandrill._domainkey.dashboard"

Value: v=DKIM1; k=rsa; p=MIGfMA0GCSqGSIb3DQEBAQUAA4GNADCBiQKBgQCrLHiExVd55zd/IQ/J/mRwSRMAocV/hMB3jXwaHH36d9NaVynQFYV8NaWi69c1veUtRzGt7yAioXqLj7Z4TeEUoOLgrKsn8YnckGs9i3B3tVFB+Ch/4mPhXWiNfNdynHWBcPcbJ8kjEQ2U8y78dHZj1YeRXXVvWob2OaKynO8/lQIDAQAB;
TTL: you can leave this at "Automatic"

Once record is added, it should look like this:

4. Setting up SPF

Sender Policy Framework (SPF) is a simple email validation system, and we're using it to verify that e-mails sent by our system do not go to recipients Spam folder.

Process is very similar to Step 3.

Type: choose TXT from drop-down menu
Host: YourAgencySubdomain. In the example above (step 1) , we used "dashboard", which would make the complete Host to be "mandrill._domainkey.dashboard"
Value: v=spf1 include:spf.mandrillapp.com ?all
TTL: you can leave this at "Automatic"

Once record is added, it should look like this:

Don't forget to save changes for all records by clicking on "Save all changes" button, as marked below.

Congratulations, you've just successfully set up the redirection to your mobile app or agency dashboard. Keep in mind this may take up to 48 hours to be fully activated and don't forget to add the newly added redirection subdomain to your agency account settings.
